York Home Search

A York home search is very popular in the North East region as the ancient city has a thriving centre with its minster at the hub. It offers a great lifestyle and it’s cobbled streets and medieval properties provide plenty of history.

Many choosing a York home search choose city living, as an apartment by the river allows for a level walk to the city centre over one of the many bridges that cross the River Ouse. With restaurants, shops, theatres and bars, the medieval city walls provide protection and an attraction for visitors and residents alike.

A York home search could focus on one of many popular areas in the city. Bootham with its Georgian and Victorian town houses and Clifton are close enough to walk to the City centre but also to the private schools of St Peters School and Bootham School. The Mount School is located conveniently near to The Mount with its Georgian Townhouses leading down to the Knavesmire and to the famous York Racecourse.

Heslington and Fulford are near to the newly extended York University campus on the south side of the city and may provide interesting options for those who are carrying out a York home search for an investment property. Escrick village and Queen Margarets School are also not far away.

A York home search might also include the villages to the north of the city such as Strensall, Stockton on the Forest, Stillington, or Sutton-on-the-Forest which has one of the prettiest streets of double fronted Georgian houses in the county.

The favoured villages of Appleton Roebuck, Askham Bryan, Nether and Upper Poppleton to the west of York also provide for easy access to the motorway network and commuting to Leeds.

A York home search is also popular as it also forms part of The Golden Triangle with Harrogate and Leeds and so it may include villages to the east of the A1 corridor in particular, Great Ouseburn, Little Ouseburn, Tockwith and Long Marston, famous for the Battle of Marston moor in 1644.

A more southerly York home search might include the village of Boston Spa together with its neighbour, Clifford, which are located within easy access of the motorway network and for commuting to Leeds.
